Day-by-day itinerary

Departure to Luang Prabang, in Laos
Check in your luggage to Luang Prabang, then take your first flight to Bangkok, Thailand.
Upon arrival in Bangkok, continue your journey with a second flight to Luang Prabang, Laos.

Arrival in Luang Prabang and traditional Baci ceremony
Upon your arrival at the airport in Luang Prabang, you will complete the country's entry formalities, including visa processing, before collecting your luggage. Your local English-speaking guide will greet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel for check-in.
At the end of the day, you will have the opportunity to visit Mont Phousi, appreciated for its panoramic views over the city, particularly enjoyable at sunset. On the way down, you can stop at the night market to discover some examples of Lao craftsmanship. This visit can also be done on another day, according to your preferences.
Back at the hotel, prepare yourself for an evening filled with traditions and encounters. A traditional Baci ceremony will be organized in your honor, offering you an authentic insight into local customs.
The Baci celebrates happy moments in life, such as meetings or weddings, and can also be organized in honor of a person or family to bring them security, happiness and prosperity. You will share a dinner with your hosts on this occasion, in a friendly atmosphere conducive to exchanges.

City tour in Luang Prabang
After your breakfast at the hotel, set off by bike to discover Luang Prabang, a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. Your route begins with a visit to the Royal Palace, now transformed into a National Museum, and then to the Vat Mai. Continue to the Vat Xieng Mouane, where its training center will allow you to discover different crafts related to Buddhist art. Along the way, you will also pass the French Institute of Luang Prabang, located in the former residence of humorist Pierre Desproges. Then take a detour to the Heritage House to better understand the protection and development policies of Luang Prabang. You will also discover a small manual workshop there.
For lunch, head to the Pha Khao Lao restaurant, where you will taste local flavors and in particular the culinary specialties of Luang Prabang.
The afternoon continues at the ethnology museum, an educational visit that allows you to better understand the ethnic diversity of Laos and its cultural richness. The museum is closed on Mondays.
Continue with a visit to Ock Pop Tok, a center dedicated to promoting products from traditional Lao textile crafts.
In late afternoon, enjoy the last rays of daylight at the Vat Prabat Tai, from where you can admire the sunset and its reflections on the Mekong. As an option, share a game of pétanque with locals, a friendly way to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere.
Dinner free.
Recommendation: the Dyen Sabai, located on the opposite bank of the Nam Khan river and accessible from the peninsula by a small bamboo bridge. You can discover the sindad, a Lao barbecue where everyone grills their meat on a hot plate while cooking their vegetables, accompanied by a Beerlao.

Discovery of Vat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang
After your included breakfast, set off to discover the iconic monuments of Luang Prabang.
You will visit in particular the Vat Xieng Thong, located at the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan river. This emblematic temple of the city stands out for its typically local architecture and constitutes an important pilgrimage site for many faithful.
Embark on a private boat heading to the Pak Ou Caves. Along the way, make a stop at Ban Xang Hai village, renowned for its rice alcohol production, with alcohol content varying between 25 and 45°. Continue then to the Pak Ou caves, which house hundreds of Buddha statues. They also constitute an important pilgrimage site for Laotians, particularly during the Lao New Year, celebrated in mid-April. You will enjoy lunch on board the boat.
Luang Prabang → Kuang Si Falls
In the afternoon, head to the Kuang Si Waterfall, located 32 km from Luang Prabang. The journey takes you through beautiful rice field landscapes before reaching the cascades and their natural pools with turquoise and crystal-clear waters, where you will have the opportunity to swim. On site, discover a small permanent exhibition dedicated to the preservation of Asian black bears from Southeast Asia, an endangered species. Before returning to Luang Prabang, take a detour of about half an hour to the Lao Buffalo Dairy. This farm will allow you to learn more about the situation of buffalo in Laos, the care provided to them as well as the programs put in place with local breeders to promote their reproduction. The farm also develops activities around milk and cheese production.
You will have the opportunity to get close to the buffalo and bottle-feed the calves. The visit ends with a tasting of artisanal ice cream made from buffalo milk, offered with different flavors depending on the season: fruits, sesame or lemongrass.
Kuang Si Falls → Luang Prabang
For your evening, we recommend the Bamboo Tree restaurant, located along the Nam Khan river, in the heart of the old town. Chef Linda passionately offers refined and fresh local cuisine, in a pleasant setting by the water.

Tak Bat, morning market and pottery workshop in Ban Chan
Wake up early to attend the Tak Bat, a Buddhist alms-giving ritual to monks. Laotian, Thai and visiting devotees can participate or simply observe this ceremony, provided they adopt a respectful attitude and follow the usual rules of etiquette. Then return to your hotel for breakfast via the morning market, set up in the alleys around the old Royal Palace. You will discover various products and ingredients used in the daily cooking of Laotians. At 08h30, meet at your hotel reception for a short transfer to the pier. Board a longboat and cross the Mekong to reach the pottery village of Ban Chan, located a few kilometers downstream from Luang Prabang. You then discover the Pottery House, where you spend a half-day with a family to learn about traditional Lao pottery. Terracotta pots and other containers hold an important place in local culture and are notably used to store rice, water and padeck, a sauce made from fermented fish. After a visit to the village and some explanations about this craft, join the center to watch a demonstration, before trying your hand at local pottery techniques yourself.
At the end of this group activity, share a Lao lunch on site together.
After your lunch, return to Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, set out to discover bamboo, a material that is omnipresent in Laotian culture, during an experience organized on the outskirts of the city, in the heart of a natural environment surrounded by rice fields. Your discovery of The Bamboo Experience begins with a bamboo weaving lesson, accompanied by an experienced weaver. Various activities will then allow you to better understand the place of bamboo objects in daily life, particularly for fishing, hunting, music and dance. Continue with a cooking class dedicated to bamboo-based dishes. You will participate in their preparation before tasting them in a sala overlooking the surrounding landscape.
Note: Depending on the number of participants at the time of confirmation, the group may be divided into two teams for the various activities.

Hiking and tree-climbing at Nahm Dong Park
After your breakfast at the hotel, head to Nahm Dong Park. Return to Luang Prabang at the end of the day, then you have free time.
Dinner on your own. For your evening, we recommend Calao, located in a 19th-century building on the riverbanks. The restaurant offers a wide selection of Asian dishes, as well as an ethnic menu allowing you to discover different local flavors.

Discovery of the Elephant Conservation Center
After your hotel breakfast, you head towards Xayyabouly, which you reach after approximately 2 to 3 hours of travel. Upon arrival at the Nam Tien Lake pier, you board a boat to reach the Elephant Conservation Center. You settle into your basic bungalows with shared bathrooms, before sharing a traditional Laotian lunch at the camp restaurant.
In the afternoon, you explore the center, its various services and ongoing projects. You meet several professionals who help you become more familiar with the elephants and also visit the hospital dedicated to them, unique in Laos.
You then participate in bathing the elephants, before meeting the mahouts, who teach you the basics of directing an elephant.

Last Moments with the Elephants
After your breakfast, you rejoin the elephants in the forest to witness their morning bath. Accompanied by your guide, you learn more about their training, their daily life within the camp and, more broadly, about these animals.
You then have lunch in the heart of the forest, on a platform overlooking the elephants' recreation area.
In the afternoon, you visit the nursery to meet the newcomers, if there are any, and to better understand the relationship between the elephants, their young and their mahouts. You then prepare your belongings and head towards Vang Vieng, where you arrive in the late afternoon. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel and settle into your rooms.
You have the rest of the evening free to relax and enjoy the natural setting on the banks of the Nam Song River, especially at sunset.

Discovering the Pou Kham Caves
After your hotel breakfast, you head to the Phou Dindaeng organic farm, located 3 km from Vang Vieng.
This farm works to promote responsible and organic agriculture, while perpetuating different traditional techniques of market gardening and goat farming.
You continue this discovery through an immersion in Laotian gastronomy through a group cooking class. You use the farm's products to prepare different dishes, in a true "farm to table" spirit.
Once your preparations are finished, you sit down at the table to taste the dishes you have cooked yourselves. Beverages not included.
In the afternoon, you return to your hotel and enjoy free time. Your guide can help you organize different activities according to your wishes, with fees to be paid directly on site.
Note: depending on availability, weather conditions and the time you have available, you can approach your guide the day before to organize your day as you wish. Several possibilities are available to you:
a hot air balloon ride to fly over the karst region of Vang Vieng;
a motorboat cruise on the Nam Song river before sunset, with the mountains of Vang Vieng in the background;
a bike or scooter excursion to explore at your own pace the countryside around Vang Vieng;
a buggy or quad outing;
a descent of the Nam Song river by kayak.
These activities carry potential risks, particularly during the rainy season. By choosing to participate, you acknowledge that you have been informed and assume any resulting consequences. Fees and supplements are to be paid directly on site with the service providers.
As an option, you can also visit the equestrian center Ponies of Vang Vieng. The activities offered are suitable for different ages, from pony rides for children to carriage rides. Depending on your preferences, you can choose a pony ride of 20 minutes to an hour or more, along the Nam Song river or through forests and rice fields. Activities to be paid on site.

Karst Landscapes of Vang Vieng
After your hotel breakfast, you set off to discover the surrounding countryside and its karst landscapes.
You reach the Tham Phou Kham Caves, at the foot of which there is a small spring locally known as the Blue Lagoon. You can take advantage of this stop to swim.
You continue your day with a hiking ascent of Piton Ngeun. Once at the summit, you enjoy a clear view of the surrounding landscapes.
You then have lunch at the Sanctuary hotel restaurant in Thaheua, before heading to Vientiane, the capital of Laos for the past 450 years. Approximately 3 hours of travel are needed to reach it. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel and settle into your room.
Your end of day is free to allow you to discover Vientiane at your own pace.
Dinner is on your own. We recommend Lao Kitchen, located on Hengboun Street, near the National Cultural Center.

Muay Lao and Traditional Sauna

You begin with the That Luang (Pha That Luang), the most venerated stupa in the country, then discover Patuxay, the Triumphal Arch of Vientiane. You continue towards Vat Sisaket, before visiting Ho Phra Keo, which once housed the Emerald Buddha, now preserved in Bangkok.
Your morning ends at the COPE exhibition center, where you can better understand the consequences of the second Vietnam War and the devastation that UXOs continue to cause to local populations.
For lunch, you go to the Doi Ka Noi restaurant, located slightly away from the city center and committed to sustainable development. The first establishment of its kind in Laos to follow the slow food movement, it offers authentic and tasty Lao cuisine. Here, no fixed menu: dishes change daily according to products available at the market, the season and the desires of chef Noy.
In the afternoon, you discover a highlight of Lao culture: Muay Lao, similar to Thai boxing and practiced with feet, fists and knees. You learn more about this sport before participating in an accessible training session, where rigor and concentration blend with a convivial moment to share with family.
At the end of the day, you head to a local sauna to discover another Lao tradition: the medicinal herb sauna. A true place of life, it allows you to meet with friends or family, or simply to enjoy a moment of relaxation. You alternate between steam bath and patio, where you can chat over herbal infusions, before taking a cold shower. You can also observe local habits around body and skin care, in particular the use of creams and products made from tamarind.
Dinner free.

an exit ticket from the country (return or onward flight),

hepatitis A and hepatitis B,
typhoid,
rabies (depending on activities and areas visited),
Japanese encephalitis (for extended stays in rural areas).
A preventive antimalarial treatment may be recommended for certain regions, particularly rural and forested areas. Consult your doctor or a travel medicine center before departure.
Traveling with Children

In some European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an authorization to leave the country may be required according to the regulations of their country of residence.
