Subject to a tropical climate influenced by the monsoon, Laos experiences a rainy season between April and October. During this period, it is very hot with average temperatures around 30°C. Rainfall is particularly frequent in the southern regions, while in Vientiane the weather remains relatively dry with showers mainly in the evening. During the rainy season, certain roads and trekking routes can become impassable or even dangerous. Road conditions also deteriorate, making access to remote villages challenging.

The dry season extends from November to March with mild and pleasant temperatures. In mountainous regions, temperatures cool considerably, so it is advisable to pack warm clothing.

The best time to visit Laos is therefore during the dry season.
